The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is calling for comments on its draft Principles of Open Science Monitoring. These principles represent the initiation of a global approach to open science monitoring that aims to promote transparency and equity. VeriXiv: preparing for launch via Zoom
Earlier this year, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and F1000 announced the launch of VeriXiv, a new preprint server designed to help researchers comply with the foundation’s revised open access (OA) policy. How successful are transformative agreements? cOAlition S launched its Transformative Journal programme in 2021 to help subscription publishers transition to full and immediate OA. This 2023 analysis is the penultimate report from the programme and demonstrates that more than half of the 996 participating titles failed to meet their OA growth targets in 2023. The analysis concludes by acknowledging that the transition to full and immediate OA remains “a long way away” for many Transformative Journal publishers.
